Chromebooks Available for Sign Out from the Media Center
This year, we have been given 10 chromebooks that are available in the media center for students to checkout and take home for a duration of three days. Before students are able to signout a chromebook, a Chromebook Permission Slip must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Click here for a downloadable version of the Chromebook Permission Slip.
Please note that it is recommended that students the chromebook to the media center each morning so that it can be recharged before it is taken home again that evening. This will ensure that students will have a fully charged computer for each night of his/her work with the chromebook.
Chromebooks in the Classrooms:
All of the English language arts and social studies classrooms are now equipped with at least 30 chromebooks. Additionally, there is at least one chromebook cart of 30 machines available for math and one for science at each grade level.
How does it work?
Each student has access to his/her own Google Drive account with 30 GB of data. Students can create documents that can be shared or used for simultaneous collaboration. Since Google Drive uses cloud-based technology, all of a student's files are accessible remotely (from home computers, smartphones, tablets, etc.) as long as the student is using the Google Chrome browser. (Google Drive and Chrome apps can be added to smartphones)
Want to Access the Google Drive from Home?
1. Username: first 4 letters of first name first 4 letters of last name, last 5 of student [email protected]
Example: Cindy Robinson = [email protected]
2. Password - PowerSchool Parent Portal Password plus 3 zeros added to the end.
Example: If your PowerSchool Password is 87341
Then your Google Password would be 87341000
4. Students should be able to access all of the files that they have created in school, the documents, files and links that have been shared with them, and should be able to complete and submit work to their teachers or to share documents with others.

Here's how:
Google Tools
Here are a few of the tools that we are using as we start to learn more about how to tap into the potential of Google:
- Google Docs - For word processing. Word files can be viewed using Google Drive, and they can be converted to Google Docs so that they can be edited.
- Google Slides - For presentations. Similar to PowerPoint, Google Slides provides templates for students to create presentations. PowerPoint files can be viewed in Google Drive, and they can be converted to Google Slides so that they can be edited.
